Connect serial PLM over Ethernet

Is it possible to connect the PLM via a serial to IP converter over Ethernet, like a Global Cache IP2SL Ethernet to Serial Converter? It would add a lot of flexibility on where to install the PLM vs, where the controller is located. Also, RS-232 ports are more of less going away from today's SFF computers, like the Intel NUC.

i think i have seen others do this with success. i guess it doesn't hurt to try

Thanks, so how do I map the IP address to the COM port, or will your plugin accept the IP address of the converter?

your device should have a driver that allows you do this? this is not a function of the plugin

the plugin doesn't need to know anything other than the com port you are communicating with
