Schlage customer support claims the Zstick controller is not capable of all Zwave functions. Are they right? This is what they clain is preventing me from enrolling the lock.
"A controller must support the Z-Wave™ security command class in order to control a Schlage Wireless Lock."
Anybody have any Ideas?

We are working on Schlage lock support now and will announce the particulars when we're ready to release that version... probably in June.

Sweet; can you guys announce which locks you will support? Will it be any link ones? I'd like to order them now and use the keypad.

Great news!
Will it still require the monthy subscription from Schlage?
I just installed one at my wife's office and I really like it... I just wouldn't want to pay $12/ month for a lock on my house when I already have zwave gear and remote access.
Thanks,
Dave

This is excellent that HS is going to be supporting this zwave product. I look forward to implementing this once it is released. However, I need to purchase a unit very soon as the doors and windows are being replaced in the next several weeks.
I am currently using a Z-troller for communications, with a number of zwave devices installed in my network.
Will I need to purchase the Schlage Link Bridge device? or will the z-troller be able to be updated to communicate to the schlage lock directly?
Thanks
Steven

We will be allowing direct communication with the lock. The bridge will not be required.

I'd also like to purchase a lock now for similar reasons. I can integrate later, but having the lock in place would be helpful. Can we purchase them now????

They can be purchased other places currently; though I do prefer to keep the dollars in the HST family.

Ditto.
As an aside, every single time this thread gets updated and macromark posts, I think, AHA, I can go get me a lock!
Alas, I must wait (and wait, and wait) impatiently to spend $ with HST... I'd be happy with a lock now with the promise of integration later so long as I could get it through HST......<hint hint nudge nudge wink wink>

Well, I managed to lock the woman out of the house the other day while she was running; so I am on the **** list. I might have to bite the bullet here and get one of these quickly; very high FWAF.

I know the bridge will not be required.
Will the subscription be required?
Thanks,

My wife is itching to buy one of these, and I too would like to buy it via HST. It would be nice to buy one now with the knowledge that a plugin is coming.
If there is some idea of when HST will start selling the locks, I may be able to wait.

We are working on supporting the command classes and security technology that these devices use. A couple more weeks and they will be in a beta release of HomeSeer.
Something to know though - correct, the bridge and such is not going to be needed. Also, the Schlage lock uses a new technology for battery operated devices called Beaming. This is only in the Zensys library 5.02. Zensys library 5.02 will NOT fit into the Z-Troller. At this time, the Wayne Dalton USB stick and another USB device we are in the process of adding to the store are the only ones that will be able to be used with the Schlage locks. Also, if HomeSeer cannot communicate directly with the lock, then only ONE plug-in module from ACT is the only product at this time that can route the Beaming messages, so you would need to buy one of those if HomeSeer cannot directly talk to the lock.
The Black & Decker lock I have heard rumor does not use Beaming, so that could work with the Z-Troller and other interfaces. I do not know how it will stack up against the Schlage, but Schlage locks are usually the ones that set the industry standard and are quite good.
Let me know if I did not answer your questions - hang in there, couple of more weeks and I hope to have a beta version ready to go.

Is there a hardware upgrade or modification to existing Z-Trollers that would allow beaming? If not, it sounds like Z-Troller 2.0 maybe next.
