    Web Page Builder (quickview) & icons

    Jon,

    how does the web page builder behave wrt icons in the device status?

    I have seen that, for some devices (like RFXCom temperature devices) the status shows with the icon, but for some others (for example, I have added "normal.gif" to html\images\homeseer, so that an icon shows when a security sensor is normal) only the text shows...

    Is there something I can do to make these icons show as well?

    I'm not sure I understand the problem.

    You cannot define an icon against device status; this has to be done using device string and should be set by the plugin/script.

    What derives the devices not showing icons?

      Jon, maybe I didn't explain properly.

      I have some RFXCom security devices (e.g. door / window sensors).

      In the standard HS status view, when the sensor is OK, the status reads "Normal"

      I have added a .gif file called normal.gif in the homeseer html images directory.

      Now, when I look at the status page, the device shows the icon + the text "Normal" since HS automatically picks up the .gif file called the same as the text in the status and displays it.

      This is not the case when I load the quick view page, it just shows "Normal" and no icon... Am I doing something wrong?

        Ahh OK...that's a bit of functionality built in to Homeseer that I had totally forgotten about and never use.

        The answer obviously is that this is not supported but I will look at adding this to the next version. You may be able to use BLIcon to do this as an alternative.

          OK, so how do you have all those nice icons showing in your quickview page? Did you add the graphics to the devices via a script first? I suppose I could always do it for the devices I need...

            As I said, you use devicestring in a script to achieve this i.e.

            Housecode="A1"
            Data="yourdata"
            hs.setdevicestring (Housecode,"<img src='/images/yourimage.gif'> Text goes here: " & Data,true)
