    Datascraper - Met Office

    Hi Guys/Jon00,

Has anyone tried to use the Data grabber to retrieve severe weather warnings from the met office?

    This page for example:

    http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/w...&regionName=sw

The main problem I can see is that the text is not in the page sauce. Also how to handle multiple alerts (just a wind alert at time of writting). Sometimes there can be more than one.. sometimes none..

Anyone ever tried? If so, care to share some tips? Any help much appreciated.

    Marc

I have not scraped this page. If you can find a common pattern in the HTML for each alert, Data scraper will capture this and store the outputs in the ini file under [0] [1] [2] etc.

You can then create a number of virtual devices which will show the tag data if it contains data or a - if not.

That all said, the site uses inline elements to display the data so cannot be scraped by this application.

Hmm, after a day of playing, I can't seem to get reliable results. I think the met office page is just too dynamic to be scrapable.

Do you per chance get severe weather alerts into your system Jon00?

No but the Beeb site may be easier....

You looked at their RSS feeds? May be simpler to get talking to HS - http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/d...sRSS/Region/UK
