    'Starter' Thermostat

    Hi All,

Christmas is coming and Santa might be willing to bring a HA thermostat for our new house. However, the elves are not sure what to recommend to Santa and need your help. What we need is:

Low cost - we're very 'house poor' right now
One box - Shouldn't need any/many accessories to install
Simple - Easy/Free plug in to HS for control
Economical - Santa wants to save $$$ with this

I should be able to run cables to the server as well as the furnace from where the old one is now. Our heater is a old gas honeywell 'pacemaker' that heats both hot water and the radiators.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Jason,
One of the most affordiable tstats that can be interfaced with HS would be the HAI line of tstats.

I personally use the RCS serial zone controllers and thermostats but for the money you Cant beat the HAI RC80, its a great stat, great plugin and 1 box to set up, just make sure you get the communications cable for it.
