    DS2406 not working as output

    Hi I am running ver 4.30.3 and trying to get a number of DS2406's to work as outputs (Relay) by ticking the output box in the discrete(1) F0000000072E6212Y1...etc. When the output is commanded on it still show off in the status box and there is no switching of the DS2406 output port. Can you help please?

    I'll be back home this weekend and look into it. I dont have any 2406, but I do have DS2405's and the logic is similiar.

      Are you using the Temp08/Temp05 or the DS9097/DS9490 as your 1-wire interface to the PC? If I recall the DS2406 had some issues with Temp05/V5 and versions of the Temp08 before 1.03

        I tried with a DS2405 that is connected to an LED in an output configuration and a DS9097U as the interface and had no problems with it. If you are using a DS9097U then I would suggest starting with the first channel of the DS2406 and use a multimeter to measure the level of the output prior to your circuit that is interfacing to your relay.

          I am using the DS9097/DS9490 1-wire interface only, the DS2406 (F0000000072E6212) is part of a T2SS - 2 Channel I/O Module 1-Wire Expansion Card.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

          I can toggle the switch state on/off fine under the 1-wire viewer. If channel 0 switch is activated under the viewer (led on), then close the viewer, start HomeSeer/mcsTemperature app, the status of that switch(0) shows on, but it won't turn off when commanded. I have keep the network very simple with only 4 devices in it DS18S20, DS18B20, DS2406 & DS2401. I note that the DS2401 (6B00000020887481) shows as a switch. Attached is the mcsTemperature.ini file

            The problem exists because I did not assign any A..Z house code device to belong to the mcsTemperature plugin. I did it only for house code explicitly associated with mcsTemperature. It does not matter for inputs, but for outputs there needs to be a way to know with plugin is responsible for acting upon an output command.

            I made an update in V4.36.3 to assign any used device to mcsTemperature.

            For this update to work for you the ini file needs to be edited to delete the two devices associated with the DS2406. These will be R3 and R4 in the [Devices] section with the keys F0000000072E6212Y and F0000000072E6212Y1. Delete the entire line in both cases.

            The process will be:
            1) Delete R3 and R4 from within Homeseer
            2) Close Homeseer
            3) Edit \Config\mcsTemperature.ini per paragraph above
            4) Restart Homeseer
            5) Wait for discovery of the DS2406
            6) Go to mcsTemperature setup / Discrete and check the output box.

            If there is a complaint about the database duplication then in step 3 also remove the two lines in the [Database] section with key R3 and R4 as you go through the process again.

            Rather than the above you can write a simple script that sets the .interface property of devices R3 and R4 to have a value of mcsTemperature. The script below should do it for you.

            Sub main()
            WriteInterface("R3")
            WriteInterface("R4")
            End sub

            Sub WriteInterface(sDC)
            i = hs.DeviceExists(sDC)
            if i = -1 then
            exit sub
            end if
            set oDevice = hs.GetDevice(i)
            oDevice.interface = "mcsTemperature"
            set oDevice = Nothing
            exit sub

              Thank you Michael

              It is better now I can command R3 (F0000000072E6212S) DS2406 channel 0 on/off ok, the status reflects the channel state. But R4 (F0000000072E6212S1) DS2406 channel 1 pulses on/off (un-commanded) when polled.

                I want to make certain I understand what you are seeing. Please confrim what I have right/wrong with the following.

                From the log I see that the DS2406 reports True/On for both channels. I also see what looks like commands every cycle that outputs to the DS2406. The dump does not show which channel, but I will assume it is associated with the second channel. This is all happening without you doing any control of R3 or R4.

                You see a blink in the relay output due to the Off followed by the On followed by off. I'm guessing that the HS GUI status always shows ON for both R3 and R4.

                    Try the V4.36.6. I tried to simulate the DS2406, but only the real thing will confirm it is now working.

                      That functions well now, both channel 0 & 1 switch on/off without any pulses. But there is a systax error at line 230.

                        Could you enable the debug log and capture the error message and supporting info from the debug. I cannot tell what it may be without debug info.

                            You are having a problem with the database because the date format setup on your computer formats am/pm as A.M. and P.M. rather AM and PM. This should be a control panel regional setting for date format, but I've never had to do it to any of my computers.

                              Well I am only new to McsTemperature and have not looked at the dbase side of things yet. I only commented about apparent error as it was reported in the HS log.
