    Lightning Detector

    Michael,

    Purchased a lighting detector from:

    http://www.hobby-boards.com/catalog/...products_id=65

I keep trying to set up MCS Temperature for this device on a TEMP08 but MCS Temperature keeps changing it to a water flow sensor.

    Any suggestions?
    - Pete

A DS2423 is a general purpose counter and Mitch elected to call it a Lightning counter for purposes of configuration. I and others have used it as to count gallonage and you are the first person that actually is using it to count lightning strikes with mcsTemperature. I make a change that should allow it to default to water flow, but can be changed to lightning. I'm posting it V4.37.10 to let you see if it works for you. Much easier for you to test it than for me to try to simulate it.

Thanks Michael, will give it a try.

Just wondering where I should be looking for the update?

        Lightning detector testing

I am testing the lightning detector about 15 feet away from my whole house electronic air cleaner and it appears to work well. Just finished building the apparatus to house the sensor on the roof. I used PVC tubing as described:

If you have not founf it yet look here http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=96231

One or two thunderstorms a year around here. I remember them daily in the summer in Key West Florida

Thanks Michael. FYI - noticed that Mitch has posted upgrades to TEMP05/08 devices. In Lockport, IL and surrounding communities the mention of tornado alley comes up often. We are in a very open area and the storms are quick and there is much lightning with them.

Newest Mideon firmware & latest MCS Temp Plugin - Lightening Detector

              Michael,
Upgraded to latest MCS Temp Plugin along with Mitches last HW firmware level and noticed that Lightening detector went back to defaulting to water flow detection. Is there a different version of MCSTemperature that will handle the lightening detector?

What should the lightening rate be set for in the plugin? I think last update I just left it at water flow rate. Should it be frequency?

Probably a configuration control issue for which I did not transfer my laptop changes back to the desktop when I got back from a trip. I'll need to figure out what needs to be done again.

I did see in the DIS command where I was not allowing it to be Lightning. I updated in 4.39.0. See if it helps.
