    error count devices report "unknown"

I noticed after upgrading to 4.37.7 from 4.20-something that devices were created to report error counts, specifically:

    R60 Composite Error count
    R61 DS9097 Error Count
    R62 TEMP05 Error Count
    R63 Sensor Error Count

However all have yet to change from the "unknown" they were at install time. In setup, there are a number of errors logged in the "Err Cnt" column to the left of my Analog sensors. Should the devices not be getting updated automagically? If not, what am I supposed to do?

What is the diff between TEMP05 Error Count and Sensor Error Count?

Also, if I don't have a DS9097 (or, for that matter a wind sensor for "R50 High Wind" device that was also created), can I just delete the devices without messing things up?

The error count devices have been around for a very long time and they will always be created so you cannot remove them, but you can hide them using the Homeseer device properties.

The Temp05 has one count that looks for ??? reports and 85 degree readings. The DS9097 has two. One for the adapter and the one labled "sensor" for all individual sensors. These will be errors reported by the OWAPI drivers.

No updates of LastChange is done, but the DeviceString will contain the counts. The 4th one is an error rate which is the running average of the sum of all errors divided by the number of errors + number of success.

The high wind device is an entry on the setup so if this field is set blank then the device should be deleted. If not then just hide it like the error devices that are not of interest.

I have also noticed the error counting reports.
I use a DS9097 with 32 DS18S20's and man did I have errors after upgrading to 4.37.7 18 DS9097 and 3,472 DS18S20 errors, didnt even know I was having problems till the upgrade. Temps look like they are right, but now I'm not sure. These are polling errors right ? I have polling set to 15 sec. is this too fast for the number of DS18S20 that I have ? Or do I have some other problem ?

I'm surprised that these error devices were not visible to others until the recent updates. There was nothing that I recall changing that would have inhibited them earlier and not made them visible.

32 tempeature sensors in 15 seconds probably means that you are not really achieving this rate, but continuously reading the sensors. A temperture conversion is one of the slower 1-wire operations.

Open the IO window and observe the traffic to gain confidence that the data you are seeing is valid. Generally an error means the data in HS will be stale. The LastChange of the sensors should also give you an indication that data is being received as desired.

This is the first time I have seen the errors reports.(in any Version )
win I try to bring up the I/O to view it locks up Homeseer. I have to go into the task manger and shut down mcs temp and restart HomeSeer to get it back running.

I Tryed to poll from the homeseer gui and this is the errors I'am getting
Polling:temperature 47000xxxxxx (Status is: (Not supported for mcsTemperature IO Plug in)) for all my Ds18S20's what does this mean ? do I need to reload MCS ? and if so now do I unstall it in HS 2.0

mcsTemperature setup on the Interface/main tab has an entry to specify the polling interval for the DS9x9x devices. Change this to 100 and then the Update button. Next open the IO window to observe the traffic. I'm guessing that the lockup before was because no time was left to do anything. By looking at the window you can see how long it takes to read all 32 sensors. You polling interval should be no faster than this and should also have some margin for retries. You will also see the data and confirm good conversions vs errors.

I think the poll button you are using relates to 2-way x10 devices and mcsTemperature does not have any of these.

That worked to get to the I/O, its takes 7 minutes for it to update all my sensors with no errors. way to slow for what I need.
would it work better add poll faster if Ihad more DS9097 and break the sensors down to groups ? I'll try to gave you a idea of what I'am trying to do

Hot water cicrulating pump from fire place temp 145/on--temp 130/off
Hot water cicrulating pump form solar panels temp 145/on--temp 130/off
Celing fans temp 72/on--Temp below 72/off

Outside temp temp below 70 whole house fan off

why are they "unknown" for me, and have been since I noticed them (after I re-installed everything from scratch - ver 1.7.44 - following a less than pleasant experience with 2.0) about 2 weeks ago.
