    Phantom Devices

    Michael,

For some reason I have started get some weird phantoms devices showing up
as temp sensors today (t2222222222) I have had my HS build 2014 server up and running for the last 48 hours with only my z-wave and mcs temp 4398 running on it. I can delet them from the database but they allways come back
do you have any suggestions as to what to look for?

    Mike

mcsTemperature can accept data from a variety of input sources. In this case it looks as if the sensor name is 10 2's and the "t" is put on by mcsTemperature.

Look in the mcsTemperature.ini file in the [Database] section to find the device code associated with this database entry. Delete it there and delete the device line in the [Devices] group of the same file. It should then not appear in the Analog tab and it should not be recreated in the database. If I recall it writes to the log when it creates a new database field so perhaps you can correlate this message with something

      Michael,

Thats whats so weird about it, I Deleted them out of the database and the Mcstemp inifile, Did that about four times this monring. It would create five new Devices. at different times all with the same numbers. the last time I deleted them I have not seem them show up as yet. could this some how be one of my 32 T sensors acting up? I am on a new Test build 2021 of HS for some other problems if that some how could make a difference. They were createing a new device code. next time I'll pay more att. to them.

      Thanks

      Mike

        Michael,

Does MCS Temp use any controls that WMP uses, after starting WMP and accepting the install. MCSTemp pop up 21 new devices I had not seen before
composite error rate,DS9097 error rate,tempo5 error rate,Sensor error rate and a lot of Forecast devices and how all the Weird stuff has stop. And it has seemed to fix some other problems I was haveing IVR

            Michael,
Looks Like they all (Hs speaker app, McsTemp, Hs Phone, WMP ) have one thing in common, Active X (com controls) and these were the things I was Haveing problems with. untill I started up WMP

              Michael,

              They Back,
been running HS2 and MCSTemp for almost a week now with
no rebooting ,I Have been running a minimum of temp sensors. this morning when I check, I had 14 new sensors don't have a clue what they are.
I do fine it odd that it is the same amount as my temp sensors.

Here is a text file of the screen shot, What do you make of this ?

It looks as if it sees a device that looks like an DS2450 type A/D converter with all reading showing as 0. Note the pattern of the bits in the addresss that do not have any 1 bits in 2 consective time slots. My take is that the adapter sends out a request for devices to identify themselves and the reflections on the line just happen to pass as a valid address. Based on the address a device type is encoded and mcsTemp creates the appropriate HS devices.

Since these "devices" will be rarely reporting you can ignore them/ hide them or you can try to improve the physics of the 1-wire pair.

                  Thanks for the reply
I had through that it mite have been some kind of ringing back on the line.

I'll hide them for now, and try to redo the cat 5 later.
