Tracking other HS devices with MCSTemp

    Guys

I have MCStemp running with one wire temp sensors through mcsxap.

I want to track and graph some HS devices that are on a K8055.

How can I get MCS temp to "see" these HS devices?

Do I need to get them out of HS and onto xap for mcstemp to them read them back in?!?!

Is there an easy guide as to how to do this?

Thanks in advance for help... there is so much written on these plugins its a weeks work to read through every thread to pickup little snippets of info....

No need to enter the xAP world to do this. While somewhat brief, I provided an outline earlier this evening at http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=117412

      Thanks Michael

It has picked up a name "Temperature21" for the device, which funnily enough is a counter on MALARCY's K8055 plugin.

Do I add categories to the drop down list of "temperature, wind direction, wind speed" etc?

Last question - can I change the device name that the plugin picks up? as above, with the K8055 plugin, it did not use the existing HS device description - another device, it did pickup the right name (and x10 device)

      Many thanks!

I'm not certain I'm understanding your questions. If you are trying to collect data to plot a counter then the llikely best device type is "Index". You could also add a user-defined label if you want some special unit of measure label to be shown on the chart. To do this you first need to define the label on what I think is the Devices page and then it will become availalbe in the pulldown for device type on the sensor page.

The device name shown on the Sensor page should be the device name that homeseer uses for the device. If you change it on the Sensor page then the plugin will change it within homeseer.

Hi Michael - thanks for the quick reply...

The device name that is shown on the ANALOG page under the device name column is not the device name that appears on the HS status page.

I do have three other devices that DO use the HS device name, but a device I need to track is on an input on Malarcy's K8055 plugin..... which works fine and shows all device names correctly on teh HS status page... so I'm at a loss why MCSTemp is "finding" a different name.

The name that is shown is "Temperature Temperature21" - I do have 20 onewire thermometers, so I guess that is where its picking 21 up from.... and I have the device drop down listed as a thermometer....

Sorry for being "thick", but I cannot see on the devices/Files tab where to add new classes to populate in the drop down...

          Ideas?

The label setup is on the display page at the bottom. Your devices should be setup as temperature sensors and not theremostats. The thermostat device is a different monster. I attached an illustration of a user label being selected at the device type.

Can you change the Temperature21 from the mcsTemperature page to the same name as used in HS?
