help! mcsTemperature - cannot get it to recognize the ds9097u - but onewire works

I have installed and registered the newest version of homeseer via the updater. I have a 9097u with a single ds18 temp sensor.

I downloaded and installed mcstemperature and have had trouble getting the plugin to recognize the sensor.

I have successfully used onewire to view and display the sensor data.

Here is the error I am getting.

    8/6/2010 8:40:46 PM - mcsTemperature - InitINIVariables sensorType=0, index=0 on line 8040 ActiveX component can't create object

I have read the pdf and searched and searched the forums and google and have had no luck. My plan is to purchase this plugin and integrate the rest of my sensors once I can get it working!

If you need more info please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help!

mcsTemperature is an ActiveX application and needs to use the drivers prior to the ones that Dallas-Semi released for .NET. The URL should be

    ftp://ftp.dalsemi.com/pub/auto_id/li...ers_v400b3.exe

These drivers use the Microsoft Java VM which was removed from XP due to antitrust ruling and never put into Vista/W7. The MS JVM is still available on non-Microsoft sites. I did put a download zip file for it at mcsSprinklers.com with filename MSJVM.zip which can be downloaded with either FTP or HTTP (e.g. http:// mcsSprinklers.com / msjvm.zip -- without spaces)

making progress... thanks for the quick reply!

Thanks for the quick reply!! I managed to get the MS JVM installed and then was prompted to install the other 1 wire drivers when i clicked on the general setup tab. I did all of those things and homeseer is recognizing the 9097u!!!

I still need to work on getting the info 'into' homeseer (im just getting constant log entries)

This log information should be a debug log (Interface Page / General Debug checkox) and not normally seen. The Sensor page should show the temperature sensor and you need to select a database field name etc for it. You also want the settings in the Interface page for polling rates and to store into database at some rate.

I was able to uncheck the debug information and minimize those entries in the log. I should have messed with it before I posted because I did figure that out. I am going to hook up another sensor today and work on getting the forecast data into homeseer. I may have further questions and I appreciate your response!!

I think I have 15 days left on my trial for this plugin. I will purchase it before then!
