    Trend triggers

    I feel like I need a "MCS Temperature for Dummies"

    I have it running, and am trying to do something that to me seems simple. I had a spare O.S. temp sensor laying around, and thought I could easily track my air conditioner cycles by sticking it to a vent, and detecting trends with MCS Temp-

    Trend of -1 (per min) = A/C on
    Trend of +1 (per min) = A/C off

    For the life of me, I can't understand how to perfectly set up the events though.

    I have my "A/C on" event set to:
    Sensor = Ofc Vent
    Changes at a rate of = -.2
    Upper limit = (I leave it blank but when I re-check, it's got '0' in it)
    Lower limit = (I leave it blank but when I re-check, it's got '0' in it)

    This one actually seems to work. The "A/C off" event is identical but the rate is '.2' (positive instead of negative), and it fires so intermittently that I can't figure out what's going on.

    Any help would be appreciated, as I'm running low on hair to yank out...

    Thanks!

    It has been literally years since I looked at trend triggers. The easiest thing is to look at the general debug output. If you can enable this and then identify the time when you are getting someting unexpected then we can start from there. I believe the output will be in a text file in the \Data subfolder or perhaps a mcsTemperature subfolder under there.
