Replace sensor but maintain history

I was hoping it was as straightforward as that Just swapped it over and all looks good, maintained consistent history in the database and charts etc still working.

It should be simply a matter of using the same databse name on the Sensor page as you old sensor used. Of course you need to remove the old sensor from having data colected in the database. You should be able to delete it or change the database field name to a blank.

One of my 1-wire temperature sensors has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Obviously this will have a different ID but I'd love to be able to do a straight drop in replacement while maintaining the history.

What's the best way to do this ?
