Just a thought, but what would be the scenario of writing a "read-only" app that could be used when troubleshooting one wire networks in a similar way you do it with LANs in promiscuous mode?
I am kinda thinking about perhaps a modified xapmcs1wire or something that could be used only to read from the network, and present it much like the scrolling IO window... but perhaps with some more detailed diagnostic info.... and logging?

I wonder what happens if you do plug in a second DS9490 or other master into a existing 1-wire network now... even with xapmcs1wire...?
I think it would be very handy to have such a tool that could just be plugged in at various points on the 1-wire network just to see whats going on.... when the network as a whole has a problem....
