Arduino board disconnects and won’t reconnect

I got a very simple one-wire temperature sensor working nicely with no problems whatsoever. Then I decided to move the Arduino board to another location and connect via a Homeplug. It connected briefly, then all the networking lights went out and I got ‘Connection Failed’ on HS3. It refused to reconnect. I put it back in the original location. It connected, but only for a minute or so. ‘Connection Failed’ again, but this time the networking lights were still flickering as usual. Again, the Arduino would not reconnect.

I reloaded the sketch. Same result. Brief connection, disconnection, lights still flickering, no reconnection.

Have I managed to damage something?

I’ve also noticed that reloading the sketch and reconnecting brings the green ethernet socket light on for a while, but it goes off again at the same time the ‘connection failed’ warning appears.
