I have this esp8266 in the shed, unfortunately is far enough that I lose the signal once in a while and disconnect. Do you have any recommendations to replace this board with a more powerful wifi board?

You could try something with an external antenna but I would add a wifi extender if you can or a mesh network.

I tried to put ESP8266 in my attic to monitor the attic temp. and Ductwork temp. using the one wire sensor and it worked great until the attic temp. reached around 105F and then it would connect and disconnect. I tried to look up the specs. for operating temp. but could not find it. Once I moved the unit back into the living space, it has been connected and stays connected.

Just a thought.

This is a node mcu pro module that has a tiny external antenna connector. There are also inexpensive rubber antennas available that have a short cable with the correct connector for the pro module. If you decide to check into this, find an article on connecting this up. There is a solder bridge type of jumper that has to be moved so that the internal antenna is disconnected and the external antenna connector is active.

I saw the hack on the antenna and that is an interesting one, although I was trying to figure out if another card with the antenna would work better, expecially when they are so cheap to replace them. I have to unifi ap that work great around the house but not to the shed, so it is just one spot that I have a problem with.
