    Monitoring WiFi connection

    Hi,

I recently added a ESP 8266 board and if I unplug it from power HS3 still shows that the device is connected. I set D3 as an alive pin but it doesn't show up in HS3. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks,

    Ronnie

The plugin can take up to 3 min to detect a missing board. Are you waiting long enough?
The Alive pin has no controls so has no device in HS, the pin changes its state on the board depending if the board is connected to HS or not. People use this to connect to Relays so if say for instance the board is controlling the heating and cooling and something goes wrong with HS or the Arduino then the relay state will change and control can be handed over to a conventional system.

    Greig.

How can I monitor the WiFi connection? If I tie an input pin high and monitor it in HS3 and lose the connection will it show a low in HS3?

      Thanks,

      Ronnie

The Wifi device in HS is to show the signal strength as some users had them on the edge of the board range so this is just an indicator.
No, the pin state will not change but the connection device will change state to Disconnected or connection error so you can use this in events to monitor for the status of the board.
