Error = Exception in Disconnect close port. Restarting Board

I commonly get this error message and the ARDUINO UNO REV3 board is restarting. Anny idea what's causing this?

I had a similar issue a couple of years ago on a Mega board where it was a flakey network shield. Might be worth a try to replace the shield.

The GND and pin 3 of the device are connected to a normally closed (NC) contact on a passive infrared (PIR) sensor. When motion is detected by the PIR, the contact opens and triggers an event in HomeSeer by setting a timer. When the contact experiences a high number of open and close cycles within a short period of time (> 5 cycles within 50 seconds or so), the communication port is closed, and the board is rebooted. Can someone test the functionality by rapidly opening and closing one of the digital pins to determine if the issue can be reproduced?

        Thanks
