Which board in particular, the EtherMega ? That is an extremely expensive board for what it is. I have the EtherTen at home and I found it was not reliable with the Arduino plugin for HS, it kept loosing communications. I have the Freetronics "Eleven" and it will not connect to HS via a W5100 ethernet board.

The DIN board which is an expansion and clips for the rails looks "interesting", definitely a good idea if you want to go DIN. I thought about buying a few but for the price I decided to go for the Mega "cases" which are very similar to the RaspberryPI cases, sadly my order is 8 weeks old and the cases still havent shown up, I've asked the seller to resend, I'm wondering if I will ever see them as I've currently got them screwed down to some thin ply-wood to stop the boards shorting out :-)

I pre-ordered these boards and they have yet to come. I also had my boards disconnecting I had to set a reconnect event.

What caught my eye with the EtherMega was the Poe.
This is what it says on their site:

The EtherMega is a 100% Arduino Mega 2560 compatible board that can talk to the world. Do Twitter updates automatically, serve web pages, connect to web services, display sensor data online, and control devices using a web browser. The Freetronics EtherMega uses the same ATmega2560 as the Arduino Mega 2560 so it has masses of RAM, flash memory, and I/O pins, and also includes the same Wiznet W5100 chip used by the official Arduino Ethernet Shield, so it's 100% compatible with the Ethernet library and sketches. Any project you would previously have built with an Arduino Mega 2560 and an Ethernet shield stacked together, you can now do all in a single, integrated board.

When they come I will test and report back.

Hi all,

I hereby for now would like to notify you that this board (http://www.freetronics.com.au/collec...t#.VzvSqhNy7w1) is perfporming well with no disconnects while connected with Ethernet and powered by USB
I must also inform you that the price adds up if you want to run the board with PoE, you will need one of these :http://www.freetronics.com.au/produc...f#.VzvUjBNy7w0
They are no where to be found at the moment at the time of writing this. But I did manage to find one. It's in the post coming and I will report back with the results.

One odd thing though, the designers of these boards have gone mute! they are not answering emails.

Power

Hi all,

The relay board (http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-101-.../dp/B0057OC66U) back powrers the arduino thus you don't need the usb or PoE module if you are using this relay board. And I think it would apply to other shields.

There is also this:

"WARNING: Do not use an external power supply (such as on a shield) that
injects 5V directly onto the EtherMega's 5V rail unless you either remove the
jumper entirely or put it in the "USB" position. Otherwise the external power
supply will attempt to "back-power" the switchmode supply by providing power
to its output, and it will be damaged."

Thats funny, I've got almost the exact same board on the bench wired to a mega testing :-)

It's very good with alot to control. And also if you were to use it with the USB Close to the computer then you would have to do away with the 5V supply from it because you would be getting the 5V from the USB.
