Extremely unreliable connection with EZIO6I

So, since I upgraded to HS3, I've had some issues with the SimpleHomeNet plug-in. For the first couple of days after upgrading, my EZIO didn't work at all with the plug-in, but was eventually found on the network.

However, now, it works maybe 2/7ths of the time (about 2 days a week). The rest of the time, I don't get any notifications from the device and the plug-in is mostly silent except for if I restart HS3 I get the error "Error transmitting message to read input port for device with address 19.BA.C7"

If I try to read the analog values from within the plug-in, I get the error "error transmitting message to set peek value to 13 for device with address 19.BA.C7" in the log and the plug-in page keeps refreshing "Loading threshold data..." until it finally displays "Error getting data from device".

I posted about this a couple months ago when I originally upgraded to HS3, but the issue resolved itself within a few days. Now, however, it's been happening again for the past ~month and I've just been blowing it off due to busy schedules.

From the SimpleHomeNet utility, I have 100% reliability where any time I open the utility I can connect to the EZIO. Also, when I had HS2, I had about 100% reliability as well.

The EZIO is plugged into the socket on the front of my 2413U PLM and has been for a few years, so I don't think it's a network connectivity issue.

EDIT: FYI, I am running Mark's Insteon plug-in v3.0.5.20 and v2.0.0.0 of the SimpleHomeNet plug-in.

In the Insteon plug-in I can see "Externally registered device: 19.BA.C7 (Insteon Address 19.BA.C7) registered through method"

Based on the information provided, it sounds like the plugin is properly registering the EZIO6I with the Insteon plugin, but not much else is happening. I went back to the older post and didn't see any log files. Please attach a log file with debug logging enabled showing HS3 starting up and then an attempt to communicate with the device so I can try and trace down what is going on.

It does seem strange that with HS2 and the SimpleHomeNet Utility that there are no communication errors, but it seems like there is significant problems when using HS3.

Also, please post a copy of your SimpleHomeNet.ini file along with the log.

So, fortunately (and unfortunately for debug purposes), when I enable Debug logging the plugin seems to work just fine.

This is what was happening in my previous case, where it didn't work at all until I enabled Debug logging.

I will leave Debug on and see if the issue still happens. If it doesn't happen after 2 or so days, I will turn Debug off and see if it happens.

That is strange, debug logging has no impact on the operation of the plugin other than what messages the plugin puts into the log. Please let me know what happens after a couple days of it running.

While the EZIO works 7/10 of the times someone rings our door intercom, I still get about 10-15 of these messages a day: (this is the log of the last 3 days with "SimpleHomeNet" filtering)

I still cannot access threshold data from the plugin either. While I didn't have any of these issues with HS2, is it possible that the EZIO is causing the issues and not the plugin?

Brandon,

Sorry for the delayed response. This issue is almost certainly an issue with the device and not the plugin. This error is only generated when there is a communication issue and the plugin is not getting a response back from the device. Please try deleting the device from the plugin, then performing a reset on the device by holding down the link button for several seconds while plugging in the device. After the reset is complete, re-add the device to the plugin and see if the communication issues are resolved.

Let me know if it is still having problems after completing these steps.
