Does the DS2406 in Ultra1wire2 act as a digital input or switch or can it be configured as either one?

DS2408 and hobby boards.
Hi. I was wondering how the support for ds2406 is going. Being able to use I/o properly would make this plug in fantastic.
Is there support for ds2408 planned. I see hobby boards has an 8 channel I/o board that looks good.
I am still deciding which 1-wire system to use but yours looks the easiest so far. Support for few more devices would be a real draw card.
