Need help please. Airplay plugin was able to discover my apple home pods however I can't get figure out how to have them speak something. I tried creating an event and than using advanced event tab I created Kitchen for speaker in event. However nothing happens when I have event run.

This is what I see in my log

Feb-15 9:22:40 PM AirplaySpeak INFO Connection to Kitchen (192.168.0.43:7000) failed: SETUP: no timing_port in response
Feb-15 9:22:40 PM AirplaySpeak INFO (Kitchen): Test Test Test

you are the first to test this plugin with HomePod

Could you set the log level to debug and post what you get when the plugin discovers the device (restart the plugin) as well as when you try to Speak something from HS.

            Thanks

            Thanks it worked for HomePods

Now is there anyway to change the volume of a homepod like for an event such as at night turn homepod volume to 20 percent.. I don't want to speak something necessarily for this event but just be able to control homepod volume. Also is there a way to control volume of homepod within HSTOUCH?

Does the volume slider on the config page works on your HomePods?
If so I could make that available as a device.

                  Airplay2 compatibility

                  Hi Spud,

I think this thread answer to a question I had. At least partially.

I've removed my wired in wall/ceiling speakers and now looking at a Wi-Fi solution with ideally the following objectives :
                  - HS speaks to one or a group of clients (AiplaySpeak I suppose)
                  - Cast iTunes from your plugin to one or a group of clients.
                  - In a perfect world cast Spotify also to one or a group of clients.
                  - Control individual clients volume.

For some rooms I'd prefer Bose and others Sonos (Looking at the actual non-Airplay2 market offering)

I know that Sonos and Bose have announced Airplay2 support (But still have not seen any)

Do you have other preliminary info about how your plug-ins will support Airplay2?

So far what I'm thinking is :
                  - Bose PI : Does not seem very flexible
                  - Sonos PI : Might be an option
                  - Chromecast PI : Might be an option

Any other taught from anyone appreciated.

                  Regards.

                    Spud,

I'm wondering if you can help me somehow with he same issue I'm having with my Homepod, the only difference is I'm using Airplay Speak on HS2, I know it's not supported anymore but would I be able to config it manually to not look for the timing port?

Here is my error when it tries to connect to the Homepod.
Connection to Living Room (192.168.1.208:7000) failed: SETUP: no timing_port in response

Sorry I don't think there is a way to do that without a code change in the plugin.
