    Pioneer VSX-1120-K

I have been doing a lot of research on what receiver to purchase to replace my 10 year old Denon receiver. I decided on the Pioneer VSX-1120-K which will be released in June, 2010. It includes PC control via RS-232 or Ethernet at a reasonable price (about $750).

I'll be writing a plug-in to support this receiver. Comments or suggestions related to the development of this plug-in are welcome.

    Regards,

Wow. This receiver looks fantastic and it's priced decently. Add in the iPhone app and it gets even better. I could certainly see uses for a plugin. Perhaps to mute/unmute, provide power status, power on/off, switch inputs, etc. Once released, I might have to retire my Yamaha RX-V2400 in favor of one of these.

This receiver is going to be sweet. I had the Pioneer VSX-1020-K for a few weeks, but decided to wait for the VSX-1120-K (RS-232 / Ethernet PC control). The Elite version is almost identical, about $50 more ($800), but comes with a 2 year warrantee.

I just ordered the Pioneer VSX-1120-K. I hope to get it this Friday. I'll be able to confirm it supports home automation integration after connecting to the Ethernet and RS232 ports.

I just confirmed the Pioneer VSX-1120-K allows PC control via the RS-232 interface. It also provides real time status updates for volume, inputs, etc as they are changed via the remote or front panel. Let the coding begin

                    Hi Ultrajones,

I was looking for something to control my Pioneer Elite SC-07. I think it's the same as the SC-27 but a year older. It has a 232 port and a lan one.

I would pay for that plug-in.

I just reviewed the RS232 command list for the SC-07. Looks like the plug-in will support that receiver too.

                      Regards,

I also confirmed the RS232 commands work when connected to the receiver on TCP port 23.

                          Hi Ultra,

Are you saying that you can control your receiver from the LAN instead of RS232?

How are you doing it? Do you have something simple I could try?

                          This would be amazing!

Yes, telnet to the IP address of your receiver on TCP port 23. If you get connected, then simply change the volume on your receiver. You should see a response like "VOL000" though "VOL185". If that work, then your receiver supports the RS232 command set over the network.

Wow, looks like the Pioneer Elite VSX-30 ($550) and VSX-31 ($650) also support the RS232 command protocol. However they don't support it via their ethernet connection.
