  • Correction required in BI plugin documentation, trigger reset event.

    Hi,

This isn't a request for help, rather an informational post to hopefully help out anyone else who encounters the problem I've just been through. Also as a notification to the plugin author (Gavin?)

I've just started using Blue Iris, I have a single camera which I wanted to capture motion out of for turning lights on and off. I did this by using events triggered by the BI plugin to turn virtual devices on and off:

I followed the guides, put the http string into the alerts section of the camera properties.

The "motion on" events worked great straight away. Where I had to do troubleshooting was in the reset command.

The BI plugin help section states to use the following http command for reset:

However this wasn't resetting my virtual device, in the debug logs I found the following:

The &P2 parameter is carrying the trigger type variable which in this case was MOTION. The plugin seems to be ignoring the Alert parameter and only using the Type parameter to trigger events. In this case the Reset Alert was actually retriggering the HS3 motion on event. Rather than triggering the motion off event.

I changed the Reset http string to the following:

    homeseer_IP/JSON?request=pluginfunction&function=Reset&plugin=Blue-Iris&P1=&CAM&P2=Reset

So replacing the variable used by the P2 parameter with a set value of 'Reset'.

This solved my issue, the virtual device now switches off on a camera reset and the log showed the expected details:

So I think the documentation provided in the plugin help section, under Events & Alerts > Camera Alerts > Trigger Reset, might need a correction.

Either that, or the plugin needs some debugging to respond to the Alert type parameter correctly?

Hopefully this helps someone else out in the meantime.
