  • Instructions or manual?

    I know homeseer is known for the MOST BASIC of instructions - if any at all but I am hoping someone has information on the steps required to get cameras working in this plugin.

    Like, from start to finish.

    So far I have my cameras seen in the Setup -> Cameras tab in HS3 but no cameras show up in the plug. The help file does not contain specific instructions on what do to or how.

    I am trying to add Amcrest Cameras.

    I am also re-visiting using NetCam plugin with 2 axis cameras, and am having similar frustrations (lack of information).

    So far I have:

    Added both cameras in the NetCam plugin Config page, and changed the default 5 x 6 view to just 2 x 1. My axis camera's display a static image at http://<AXIS-CAM>/jpg/image.jpg. Can confirm by testing this URL in a browser. All good.

    To view camera images I guess you use the PLUG-INS/NetCAM/NetCam View menu...

    The 'View All' option only ever shows this below. Why?

    Click image for larger version Name:	Capture.PNG Views:	0 Size:	8.4 KB ID:	1385925

    When I click on 'Front Drive' I just get a placeholder for an image that doesn't exist. Looks like this:

    Click image for larger version Name:	Capture.PNG Views:	0 Size:	7.7 KB ID:	1385926

    I just see a broken image URL instead of real camera images. For example it is trying to display an image from this address: http://<HOMESEERSERVER>/netcam/CurrentImage.jpg

    So, my assumption is that the camera view page should be grabbing a static image (JPEG) from the camera, so configure the NetCam config URL with whatever can grab a JPEG, and the plugin *SHOULD* copy it to the netcam/CurrentImage.jpg folder and file on the server. But it doesn't seem to work.

    Some HELP would be appreciated in this forum please. This plugin is included in my HS3 Pro software.

    And BTW - I am using Linux HS3 server (not Windows).

    ----------------ADDITIONAL INFO -----

    So doing some more digging,

    With my searching I did find a netcam.htm help page in the same folder. Some info! But it is very limited (nothing I hadn't already figured out) and dated June 2013. But it still doesn't work.

    I did find that the file /netcam/CurrentImage.jpg does exist, but it is not a valid JPEG format file. Weird?

    So then I opened this file in an editor and it appeared to have some XML fragments...

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
      <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="Tue, 12 May 1962 1:00:00 GMT">
      <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache">
      <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache">
      <meta http-equiv="Content-type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
      <meta http-equiv="Content-language" CONTENT="en">

      <META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="0; URL=/view/viewer_index.shtml?id=20">
      <title>Index page</title>
      <noscript>Your browser has JavaScript turned off.<br>For the user interface to work, you must enable JavaScript in your browser and reload/refresh this page.
      </noscript>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    oad/refresh this page.
      </noscript>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    It appears from the date/time on this file that it was created the first time I tried to view a camera image (based on the <META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="0; URL=/view/viewer_index.shtml?id=20"> entry). But this file is not being updated, ever.

    So, maybe, just maybe, JavaScript needs to be enabled on the browser. But when I checked my Chrome settings JavaScript WAS enabled, so not useful really...

    In summary, the NetCam plugin is as useful as a chocolate teapot to me right now.

    Any support, configuration help, anything? Please?

    Thanks,
    Andrew
