  • HS3 development license for PI development

I'm just beginning to start on my first PI development project. Development is being done on a windows server that is different from my production HS3 windows server.

    A few questions:

    1. How are people handling a second HS3 license for their development environments?
    2. How do I point the PI to another server running HS3 on the same subnet? Correspondingly, how do I point HS3 to a PI running on another server?

    Thanks.

I use one license for Windows development and Linux production
in main use explicit ip rather than local host when connecting to hs3

You can buy a development license. It is priced 50% of regular price and you are allowed to do new install more often.
I am using a Hyper-V win10 dev image for testing. This image is prepared for rapid redeploy when I need a fresh machine.
I also have an Ubuntu image, but Linux is a pain due to lack of knowledge and experience.

I find it strange that you need to pay extra for a development license, since they're already catching 30% of our sales :-/

I could not agree more! At least they should lower their prices to 10% of normal license.
