If you already have version 1.1.0, you will find only a couple of minor functionality differences which are noted in the DVD_Collection.doc. There are no new ini file settings nor is there anything you need to do other than do the install via the Updater.
This version is just the patch that I posted earlier in this thread on 11.04 along with an updated doc file. I haven’t heard of any problems for over a month so I’m going to assume no news is good news and that all is well.
If you don’t already have version 1.1.0, then what are you waiting for? Pick up a copy. It’s free and always will be.
Next I’d like to thank all of you who have given such positive feedback here in this thread and via email. I want you to know it doesn’t go unnoticed and that it’s encouraging and very much appreciated.
The random movie selection request is a pretty cool idea. I can add a button on the main page called "Random" (I’m really creative aren’t I?) and when you hit it a popup window will display the contents of a random movie. This will more than likely be in the next revision.
As far as search requests, I will probably need a database solution as a fellow member here recommended. Searching through the XML is extremely slow especially for large collections like 800+. Ideally, I would like to make this a true plug-in (free and always will be) but as it stands right now I don’t have the time to dedicate to it.
I think I mentioned it before but I could add a drop down box to filter out by genre (So why haven’t I done it?). The drop down box would list all the genres that you have in your collection along with a genre called "ALL". As you know many movies have more than one genre associated with it so I’m not sure how one would sort by genre but filtering could work. If selected a genre like "Comedy", you would see any movie that has "Comedy" as one of its genres. This will most likely be the next revision.
Sorting by title, rating, or year won’t be that hard and I’ll try to do that in the next rev also.
Regarding control of a multi-disc player, I would love to incorporate it. What I would love more is if I actually had one so that I could take advantage of it myself! It is Christmas time SPYguy, are you in the giving spirit? What model did you get?
One question for you all: Do you think I should add a text box for entering the page size so that it can be changed dynamically by any user for that one session or is the global ini file setting a good enough option?
