CNN showing status 17?

Ive been trying to figure this out for like HOURS.

My cnn virt dev is A17

So im doing:

response.write hs.devicestatus("A17")

But that just returns 17 (like any other non-existant dev)
(But yet the news shows up in the default homeseer page fine)...

I know with device status 2=off 3=on....etc...but what var do I use to write the news...i guess its not status?

i.e hs.devicestring, hs.devicestatus, etc....
