I'm using a Zoom modem. I don't remember it having this problem in the past. In the logs it does report 3 entries per call. The first is the actual name and then next two are "unknown callers". I don't see an option cannot retrigger for so many seconds...

New CID was the name of my Event which has that option. I added a couple of words to my previous comment to hopefully clarify.

I wouldn't think that would make a difference as that is basically an "extra event" as I understand it and doesn't control the announcement. In any case, I made it can't retrigger for 40 seconds and I am still getting the same behavior...

In my case, the event makes the announcement rather than the plugin (CallerID Announcement Control device is always OFF) so that I can delay it for a few seconds to allow my wireless speakers a chance to power up (if I leave them on all the time there are times when they get noisy from extraneous RF interference).

There is an option in the plugin: New CID Event (Will be triggered whenever a new Caller ID is received) that I have checked and this is the event I am talking about. This is how I have that event configured:

Gotcha. I'll have to look into the snevl_custom_announcement script as that makes sense. I've also had quite a delay between the call and the announcement so hopefully this will fix that as well...

I tried the custom script but one can't limit the event to how many seconds as the plugin is triggering the event three times per call, as it is obviously sensing three calls one after the other. Do you think it's a bad modem? If it is, is there a modem one would recommend? Steve, is there any way to limit the number of times the plugin triggers the new CID event per a certain interval?

                Jay,

I wouldn't give up on the modem just yet. Something strange is going on. From what you are saying, you are getting three calls essentially simultaneously? I can't understand how that would happen.

Do this: Go into the Snevl CID config page, turn on debug, and hit the save button. Then call yourself (or have someone call) hopefully triggering the three incoming calls. The debug file is in the root Homeseer directory, and is something like SnevlCID_debug.txt (I can't remember the exact name). Zip it up and email it to me at Snevl at msn dot com. You might also want to include your NCID.ini file in the zip (from the config subdirectory).

You may want to turn the debug back off after you've grabbed the debug file, as lots of stuff will be written to the file on each call. It doesn't grow real fast, but you may not want all the junk.

I'll look at the debug and see if there is something obvious.

                Steve

Thanks Steve but I think I figured it out and it may have nothing to do with snevl_cid. I decided to upgrade the sonos plugin which handles my tts and I can't repeat the behavior. Not sure how or why but back to normal. Love the custom announcement script btw. Don't know how I missed that one. Here's hoping you eventually move to HS3 although I have been in no hurry either.

                    Not sending out text message

For some reason snevlCID has stopped sending out text messages. It worked great for a long time but for some reason now it doesn't send them out when there is an incoming call. I can send text messges to my phone from other applications and scripts with no problem.

                    Any hints?

SnevlCID uses the Homeseer email calls to send out text messages, so if you haven't changed any of the settings within SnevlCID, I'd ceck the email settings in Homeseer.

Text messages from scripts that I have written using hs.sendemail() all work fine which rely on the HS email settings. I have not changed anything in snevlCID.

I believe I used to see something in the log indicating that snevlCID sent a text message but don't see anything that relates now.

I looked in the snevl_CID debug file and here is something that relates:
2014-03-30 15:14:15Z ... Txt Msg device for Line 1 is OFF, so no text message sent.

What Txt Msg device is this referring to? I don't see one in my device list.

I just figured it out. I do have a device that controls it. I don't know how it got changed to off? It's my device T55 called "Do Not Disturb Mode" which is the same name as T56. I changed the name to "Send Email and Texts". It works ok now. I have changed my Startup script to make sure these are in the right state.

                        thx

                          Modem issues

                          Hi

I am having some issues with using a Hayes Accura 336 modem in the UK. It seems to work fine for some calls,
but for others it returns 'CALR =' instead of 'NMBR =' which is getting ignored.

I have managed to needlessly injure myself. I used Access and edited the mdb files deleting some records and altering other. Now on rare occasions, I will get a call and caller ID will read a wrong name for the number. Any clues how to fix would appreciated.

I assume you were editing the Phonebook file, not the file containing the call log?

Do you know what fields you modified?

I don't have any ideas off the top of my head.
