Please help with a simple script

can someone please help me with a simple script. Here is what I am trying to do.

pass a device "Q1" code to a script then set the value of "Q1" or what ever device value is passed to the current value of "A1". It will always be "A1"

so basically: &hsExec "my_script.txt","Q1"

So are you planing on running the script via an event or ....
If from an event are you going to use the script action and pass in an optional parameter?

the script was going to be triggered in HST when releasing the slider "A1" at that point A1 will have the value of whatever the slider was set to.
