What model Sony TV are you trying to control?

          Cheers

You two have done an outstanding job on this plug-in too bad is it obscure in finding.. you would have many more users.. maybe you need to charge a few bucks or get it listed in the plug-in section

could it be because I am connected via another plug-in ?

All the Samsungs that I have or have heard about, cannot directly be controlled by pinging commands at them over IP. That's why we need Dirk's plugin (which you have) to control them once they're on, with the ugly Sammy protocol.

The main problem with Samsung TVs is turning them on as they don't respond to the RJ45 port when switched off.

This leaves you two options, IR (which we're all trying to avoid) and Serial over the RS232 "Exlink" port. My Exlink ports are all 3.5mm stereo jacks and I have a custom DB9 -> stereo cable that David built for me. In fact, it's 2 custom cables. 3.5mm to RJ45 [then a home run Cat6] then RJ45 to DB9, which for good measure I then have going into a serial server. All of this just to turn on the TV without IR!

well... Lucky that the Sony in my Living Room is more important to control
I have that connected thru serial from a GC-100-6

I will re-hook up my GC tonight. I was running a serial emulator pkg before, will I still need it ?

Did you figure out the commands from the spec sheet you poster earlier, or you had that one working previously?

You won't need the serial emulator pkg. Just send the commands to port 4999 on the GC-100-6 and they'll go to its serial port.
