ADSL modem & webinterface & firewall ?

I am running a cable modem to a dlink router and hub, with the systems all cat5 wired. Systems all set up with IP only. All are DHCP. Subject HS production system is a Windows2000 workstation laptop. HS1.5.2B24, and IE6.0 (ServicePak2). Software firewall application is turned off, to eliminate it as a potential source of the problem.

I can access my system with http://123.456.789.000
but NOT with IP only like 123.456.789.000, if
i instruct the webinterface to access over
another port like port 1234, and use http://123.456.789.000:1234 i will work, but not with NO HTTP. (just ip in the URL field) And when i activate my firewall it will only send the ip and the port, and that will make the homeseer program webinterface to NOT WORK outside my fireall... Any sollutions ?

I tried with a "normal" webserver and THAT works on the same computer, but not homeseer's webserver...

The http is required to tell the browser what protocol to use for contacting the destination. HomeSeer is listening for http queries on the designated port (000 in your case).

I don't think http is needed in the url for most brousers. The brouser should send the default http protocall unless something like ftp is put on the front of the ip address. For testing with apache or PWS I use 127.0.0.1 or an IP address and the webserver responds. I've seen in some java applets for some servers where http had to be in the url, which indicates it may be a server thing in some cases.

First of all if u are trying to access the HS web interface from behind your firewall useing your cable WAN address it cant happen.If u are useing the D-Link DI-707 thru DI-701 Firewall/hub set thewan interface to get the global address dynamicly and set the lan interface for DHCP mode but start the DHCP pool at ?.?.?.20 this will give you room for some static assignments. give your HS host a static IP below the .20 range. Go into HS and chose a port for the web interface to someting above 4000.Go back into the D-link and map the HS port to the Static address of the HS Host pc.after this is done have someone outside your local LAN go to your Global Cable WAN address useing the http://cableiport and all should work just like a champ..Accessing HS Web Interface from behind the firewall use the Local Static Address of the HS Host machine with the HTTP://localiport
