    Probably A Stupid Question But....

I am trying to set up my system to access the web server from an external computer, and also my mobile phone. I have been trying to set up my router to forward the correct stuff to my Homeseer computer. After reading alot of posts about web access through a router I think I might have it figured out but I would like to make sure. If my Homeseer compter's address is 123.456.789 on port 1234 and the address that is given to me by the cable company is 555.456.789 if I want to access my computer from outside I think I have to set up the router to forward port 1234 to 123.456.789. Then at the external computer I would type in http://555.456.789 and then the router would send the information to the Homesser computer? Sorry to be long winded but I wanted to make sure I tryed to explain it as best as I could. Thanks for any help I can get.

    You would type

    http://555.456.789:1234

The port must be specified otherwise the router will think you're trying to access port 80.
