Try closing down Hs and restarting. Also empty your cache to make sure it's pulling the newest page.

        Kirk,

Did you get this figured out?

What do you have in the box that lists subnets to be allowed in without a password? You need to have your local LAN subnet listed there. e.g. If your HomeSeer computer is 192.168.xxx.xxx, then you can enter 192.168 in the subnets box and it will no longer prompt for a password for any computer coming from IP addresses that start with those. Since the 192.168 subnet is an unrouted Class E network, those addresses can only come from your local network.

That is fine for internal computers inside my network. Is there not a way to make it so my custom start page does not need a password? I only want my hs stuff password protected, not my start page.

How do others get around this?

This is really a problem for my page. I want people to go to my site, just not HS.

              Kirk,

Not that I know of that uses the HS webserver. At minimum a visitor has to enter guest/guest at the login prompt. The sites that don't require this are running IIS or Apache, or some other web server for their start page.

There is an option in the Web Server setup to allow one page to be the home page.
If you go into options, select the Web Server tab, then Customize Web Site.
Enter the url for your page in the link text box. Select Page 1 Displays first before status page (home page). Then select Home Page is not password protected.
This will allow you to have one page that does not require the guest login and password.

                  Jeff,

I have all of that set up. I still get asked for a password. That is why I do not understand. I have everything setup, for some reason I still get asked.

Did anyone work out what the problem is on this?

I seem to have the same problem:
checkd the box 'Page 1 displays before status page (home page)
                    also
checkd the box 'Home page is not password protected'

                    BUT
the home page is passwork protected when I go to the page via its www URL. It asks me the username and password before I can see the first page.

                      Home page password

Mine does the same thing. The only way I could get it to work (ie not ask for a pw) was not serve a graphic I have set for my background image. I have a very simple homepage, one image as the background, just a few lines of text and a link to the HS page that is not even marked as such.

It's weird, my page 1 html file is in the hs\html directory with the image I use for background. If I serve up the page without the graphic in the code, no login. If I serve up the page with the graphic in the code, login.

Hope this helps, although I'm not sure why it happens. Terry

                        Terry,

Thanks, it does help to know that it isn't something stupid that I've done, but it is frustrating.

I'm sure mine didn't do this a couple of weeks ago, but after changing the homepage to make it better for people to use, it stops them getting to the page. Its probably time to raise a helpdesk ticket
