the manual method worked. i also had to import the homeseer authority cert into by browser as well. ie 6 sp1 seems to need it.

Sorry I haven't seen this error but like Rene I don't have a W2k box to try this on. I've only done the commands on WXP SP2 and W2k3 SP1. You might want to verify that the files(.cer and .pvk) are not zero length files and that makecert is not returning errors. Based on what you are reporting it would appear that the certs are not being created properly.

Also is there any reason that you are hanging with SP3??

I know that the automate procedure works under Windows XP, as I have used it myself, but I don't know if it W2K compatible, maybe MathewB can try it, as unfortunately all of my computers are either XP Prof. or 2003 server.

But, I am pretty sure you can use the manual procedure, as it was tested early on the development by Karls.

Please let us know your results, and if there is anything else I can do.

if i use the manual process, i can export the key, but it does not seem to work in H
S2 (ie https does not seem to work)

btw. the test key given with the 1996ssl update does work.

i am using windows 2000 server with sp3.
