Finally had a little time to revisit this issue, Firstly my thanks to msinklair for all the help with the linux stuff.
So have now swapped ports 3551 and 3553. Now FreePBX is using Port 3551 and the HS3 machine connected UPS is using Port 3553.
The FreePBX machine on port 3551 is working a treat, yes I know should have tried this first!
Alas the HS3 machine is sitting at disabled and refuses to connect.

With reference to post 3 I have now tried to Telnet into the HS3 machine and this has failed.

    "Network error. connection refused"
this is with windows firewall switched off.

Really not sure where to go next.

In Putty, did you change from the default port number to 3553?

Can you also give the IP addresses of each machine?

        Hi there Msinklair,
Yes changed the Telnet port to 3553. IP address of the HS3 machine is 192.168.1.123. Disabled the firewall. IP address of FreePBX is 192.168.1.100, if I Telnet to the FreePBX machine it shows a blank screen, I presume this means I am connected to the machine.

I’m not at a computer. I’m on my phone. So, my suggestion will not be based on research.
I believe the HS3 should be trying to connect to the PBX. So, by you getting a blank screen on the PBX should mean the port is open and listening.

I would check the logs on the PBX and the HS3 to see if there is connection attempts.
You can telnet from the HS3 to the PBX and verify the path is good. I would assume it is.

I would expect telnets to HS3 to fail because I believe it initiates the connect. It shouldn’t listen for one.

            Hi there,
The FreePBX machine is fine now I have set the port to 3551.
The HS3 machine cannot connect to port 3553 on the same machine, hope this makes sense.
Whenever or wherever I use port 3553 regardless of which machine it fails. Plugin is configured with the right port against the right machine. Also have tried deleting and re-installing the instances.

Just being clear. You don't need to be able to telnet from the FreePBX machine to the HS3. If you telnet from the HS3 into the FreePBX and get the blank screen, then the connection would appear to be ready. So, from 192.168.1.123 telnet to 192.168.1.100:3553.

If that is the case then I would start looking at the configuration and logs. The plugin has options for debugging and verbose debugging to be entered into the log. Verify the port number in the plugin and the monitoring type. I am using port 3493, NUT monitoring type, on the local host since my UPS is plugged directly into my HS3 machine.Hopefully the log will give you more to go on.

                Good morning Msinklair,

Telnet from HS3 192.168.1.123 to FreePBX 192.168.1.100:3551 comes up with "Network error. Software caused connection abort" This works in the plugin fine.
Telnet from HS3 192.168.1.123 to HS3 192.168.1.123:3553 comes up with "Network error. Connection refused" This does not work in the plugin.
Sorry not quite clear with telnet.

Okay, I went back and read through all of this. Do you have a UPS on each machine? Everything, including the plugin, is working on the FreePBX? Now you also want to see a UPS on the HS3?

Somehow I may have confused myself while trying to answer some of the questions from my phone.

                    Hi there Msinklair,
Well I think that I caused confusion because I swapped things around in the middle of the thread!
                    As it stands.
                    2 UPS's
The one connected to the FreePBX linux machine is on port 3551 and is working fine.
The one connected to the HS3 windows machine is on port 3553 and is not working at all.

                    Hope this helps ,

                    Peter

Is your HS3 machine windows based?

Correct, HS3 is running on windows 7 professional x64.
