  • Minimote in a car

If I put a Minimote in my car, can HS3 detect when the car is away via the z wave node disappearing? I'm still using a cheaper RFID tag in the car. It works but it will probably fail soon[emoji53]

No, because the MiniMote only transmits when a button is pressed. The node will never "disappear". Even a listening node will not show as missing, it will only log an error when a command is sent to it and it fails to respond.

Thanks Randy, I have a USB port in my car. Do you know if the Minimote sends a status message when plugged in?

Is there a z-wave device that provides RFID functionality? My web search did not find anything.
