If you don't own a glass break stimulator/tester... You can hold your keys a few inches over a ceramic cereal bowl and drop them in. This his all the frequencies that glass breaking does and will light it off a GBS.

You should totally break the glass... you know... to test it out...

Thanks all. It's in the basement, right near the exterior door/window, so i think it totally could be a glass break sensor.

I'll investigate more this weekend, and let you know.

We're buying a house that is a foreclosure, so we have no knowledge of what the former owners may have installed.

This device is hanging down from the ceiling in the basement. I'm thinking that it's HVAC related, but could be alarm (or something else.)

Any one recognize it? We haven't done any real digging on it yet, but I just thought that the folks here who see lots of home technology-type stuff might have seen it before.
