Microwave interference pattern disturbance is a very effective and cheap way to detect people motion. As an example RCWL-0516 for $2. A micro controller would most likely be used to interface it. Water (or metal) movement triggers it. A large object (human) is detected at a further distance. It is omnidirectional so will not matter where motion is in the area. If sensitivity is set above small object (cat) and sensor placed where cat will not be too close then it should serve as a very good motion sensor. It should not have the PIR problems induced by wind and branches move or sun shadows.
i have not tried one, but being so cheap I will give it a try out of curiosity.
The HIH-4000 is the humidity sensor I have used for many years with 1-wire. It is also in common use in weather stations. They do degrade over time so you will find weather station manufacturers recommend replacement of the sensors on the station every year or two. DHT11 is a common temp/humidity sensor used with micro controllers. I get the impression that they do not degrade, but really have not researched.

Cats? Oh yeah those sensors are going to be going off. Cats like to rub up against things and they have tails that go wherever they want....
I think my cats would try to play with it and my dogs would try to eat it!

Many times this means that you may have to mount it closer to the floor and upside down so the field of view is never goes below the height of your pet.

Yes it would require a plugin to use wireless tags. Another option for a humidity and temp is the add-on sensors for the Ambient Weather ObserverIP Module. Even if you don't have a weather station you can use the ObserverIP Module and add-on sensors. The plugin does have a 1 minute polling interval as the data is pulled from the AmbientWeather.Net website and that's how often the web site is updated.

Guest repliedWireless tags would need it’s own plugin !

The developer has not released it yet. You can do a search for "Big5" and the poster asking about changing Celsius to Fahrenheit is the developer.

would you please send me a link to that plugin? Thank you
