    Bed sensora

what do you think about this idea ? Will it work?

I have a raspberry pi 3b near the bed, could i use that?

I tried something similar with a pressure pad and universal sensor from Fibaro.
Was not reliable; sometimes it works, but most of the times the sensor stays " pressed" even if the bed is not occupied, due to the stiffnes-heaviness of the matrass.

Laugh at me but I don't see how this would work. The two aluminum plates with paper in between will certainly create a capacitor. However, the distance between the plates needs to change depending on the applied pressure in order for the capacitance to change. And why would aluminum move if it is taped to paper?
Sticking copper wire to aluminum foil is definitely bad idea.

I think the pressure mat design could probably be improved by inserting a 2mm thin sheet of foam between one of the aluminum foil sheets. That way, it should push away when no-one is in bed.
