    Thanks for the suggestions.

For now, I will continue to do what I’m doing through Hubitat.

What would be ideal is if Lutron Caseta allowed state changes over telnet for their Caseta motion sensor... but I’m dreaming.

The family of PIR sensors exhibit that same behavior of detecting an IR footprint and then apply filtering to assess if this is something of interest or just noise. What I have found to be the most responsive motion sensor of water-based (e.g. human) and other dense objects is the microwave sensor. I described a couple of these in the mcsMQTT manual. I am not aware of a commercial product that uses these to report to a HA system. I have seen them paired with with lights and those those contain a dry contact output to trigger whatever HA interface is available that has a dry contact input. I would guess that a Xiaomi Zigbee water sensor, X10 Door/Window or similar paired with a microwave motion sensor would provide the fastest response.

A lot of Z-Wave sensors are set in their firmware to require multiple "hits" or motion detection's before sending a signal. The Fibaro can be tuned to be quite fast. The former Zooz ZSE09 was also very fast but had issues with being too sensitive. The Neo and Dome are the same hardware and sensors and may not have the issues but I have not tested either of them. One of the fastest I've found is the Zooz ZSE02. It's monster of a sensor in size but it's very fast.

I've got all types and yes Zwave are a bit slow compared to Zigbee. I have started using the Iris 3326-L motion sensor which is Zigbee exclusively. They are very fast and cheap. I just bought 20 of them this week on Fleebay for $6 each. I use them with the Hubitat hub and they are faster going through the mcsHubitat plugin than using the HS Zwave plugin. I've also tried them with a Smartthings hub using the HS Smartthings plugin and they work well too, faster than ZWave.

    I was also thinking this.

These operate locally, correct? No need for cloud?

I concur and have now predominantly migrated from z-wave to Hue motion sensor.

Neo Motion sensors are fast (meaning that they can actually compete with Centralite Zigbee).

I would certainly consider them as candidates but unfortunately, I am not sure I can recommend them without hesitation.
When I pay attention, they seem to work perfectly; however, because of the environment, I would not notice if they say, generate false events.
I mention this because I also attempted using their twins, Dome sensors. The Domes misbehaved badly and are all in garbage now. But then, the issues could have been Dome-specific.

What do you mean by fast ?

    most zwave have a delay.

but if by ‘’fast’’ you meant to be able to retrigger as soon as it detect another mouvement ... (special settting set to 0) you can’t beat homeseer hsm200

    Any zigbee options ?
