WLED provides the maximum flexibility and control of LEDs. mcsMQTT plugin provides the HS integration for WLED. The starting point for WLED is https://github.com/Aircoookie/WLED. You will also find many YouTube videos for this popular item. In essence you need some form of ESP8266 or ESP8232 that sell for the ballpark for $10, a power supply for the LED you have selected and the LED strip. The WS2812B is individually addressable a provide the best experience. Being 5V they need power injected at various points. The most common ones you find at a low price point will be advertised at 5050 and are typically 12V. These need an addition controller such as Shelly RGBW2 https://forums.homeseer.com/forum/hs...and-rgb-lights because the Red, Green, Blue and White power is provided by the controller vs. the WS2812B where the power is provided by the power supply.

I use a Monoprice Z-Wave RGBW controller and have events set to control the colors.

Yes, there are multiple ways to accomplish this. In broad terms you need 3 items. 1) LED controller; which one you pick depends on the protocols you prefer. I tend to gravitate to zwave, but there are wifi, and other options that can be integrated into Homeseer. 2) power supply and 3) the led strip itself. LED strips and controllers can be RGB, RGBW, or single color. RGB has red, green and blue leds allowing you to mix and control those colors. the W addition means a white led is also on the strip giving you a true white. There are integrated solutions that include the controller, power supply and led strip.

Since I deploy a zwave solution in my home, I use:

you do not need a waterproof power supply unless you're installing it in a damp location; I happened to choose this one since it mounts nicely in my low voltage cabinet. This one drives my outdoor led landscape lighting; which is why I went with the 100 watt version. Your led strip will tell you how many watts it needs. If you use multiple strips just add the each strips wattage together to determine the size of your power supply.

Are there LED strip lights that are controllable via Alexa or preferably HS? Not just on/off, but the color selections, effects modes, etc?
