What Thermostats Work Well with HS?

I am trying to find a thermostat that works well with HS. I am on HS4 but a compatible PI from HS3 would also work if it works with a late model thermostat. Z-wave and/or WIFI preferred since Zigbee could be an issue.

If you have one that has a good track record please tell me which one and what plugin it uses and how you like it. Thanks

I have the Ecobee with Alexa and it's worked flawlessly for over a year since installing using the free Ecobee plugin.

I moved my thermostats into the closet and garage and replaced them with tablets so I can do a lot more using HSTouch. The biggest challenge was that the thermostat had to allow an external temperature sensor being the main sensor rather than averaging readings between the internal and external sensor. In addition, I wanted the thermostat to be z-wave. That limited me to the Trane 624 thermostat. It works quite well despite HAVC people rolling their eyes about me moving the thermostat into the garage/closet.

Is that the XL624? Does it work with any z-wave controller or is a Nexia bridge required?

I have been running with the XL624 for a number of years now. I'm using a Z-Net but suspect that it should work with any compatible controller.
HS3PRO 3.0.0.500 as a Fire Daemon service, Windows 2016 Server Std Intel Core i5 PC HTPC Slim SFF 4GB, 120GB SSD drive, WLG800, RFXCom, TI103,NetCam, UltraNetcam3, BLBackup, CurrentCost 3P Rain8Net, MCsSprinker, HSTouch, Ademco Security plugin/AD2USB, JowiHue, various Oregon Scientific temp/humidity sensors, Z-Net, Zsmoke, Aeron Labs micro switches, Amazon Echo Dots, WS+, WD+ ... on and on.

I use it with the HS z-wave stick. The 'higher-end' versions of the Trane thermostat do not work with the z-wave stick, as far as I know.

Which plugin did you use? Is the TZ16 z-wave, zigbee or wifi? I didn't see your particular model listed with your link. Did they come out with a newer version of the TZ16? The TBZ70 (from link above) looks a lot like the Trane XR524, but not exactly. Thanks

I am using the aprilaire plugin with an 8840 and a couple of 8810 thermostats with no issues. What is nice is this plugin and thermostats do not require any cloud connectivity

Wow, the 8840 and 8810 look nice but they are a bit out of my price range. I did see the 8476W which says it is wifi but not sure if it will work with the plugin or not. Thanks for the info.

I developed my own script.....nothing special but works well for me. Yes they have updated models. Mine just keep working so I saw no reason to update.
