Yes, Big5 can help you if you have an API. However there is no API at the link provided. Just 2 years old general statement . Looks like they abandoned the idea of creating API (reverse engineering). I'm sure there is an internal API that is not published. Vendors do that often in order to protect their eco-system and force you to keep buying from them. Hackers on the other hand like challenges and love reverse engineering to find the API. So keep looking for an API and let us know if you find any. I will gladly help you implement controls/reports using Big5 and HS4.

Digging this up from a while back.
I probably need to start a new topic, but was just googling around and found the API for the MOEN U
https://github.com/madenwala/Moen.U.Api
Honestly I didn't really even look at the file. If the information needed is in the file, Is this something I could relatively easily do with something like BIG5 Plugin to interface with the shower?

Steamist is open and you can easily control it through HS3
Some caveats though, you need their touch panels (450/550) and it's fairly primitive in the sense that you can read most stuff but only allows you to control on/off of the shower (w. a shower sense valve pack) and steam generator.
I have it integrated with HS3 and alexa, so I can say "Alexa, turn on mr.Magoo's shower"

Jake,
I have downloaded Wireshark and just not made time to try to monitor the commands going to and coming from the shower. Work and all.
If I am able to retrieve anything I was hoping one of the Plugins like Big5 might be a way to achieve communications with it. Since this is under Kohler. When I start collecting data, I will create a new post on the MoenU and we can share info there.

I recently redid my bathroom and installed the Moen U. While the Alexia Control at least allows me to start it ahead of time, I am very interested in just some very basic control. There is also a phone app that allows you not only to setup the shower but also start and stop the different profiles. If I could start a profile (Even just turn on the shower) and get feedback when the shower is On/Off I would be happy for a while. (Turning on/off the different ports and controlling the temperature would be the icing on the cake)
I e-mailed and asked for the API and they also told me it is not available at this time.
I don't mind running a scraper or something to monitor the traffic while I operate it. If someone can kick me in the correct direction of how I figure out how to control and monitor it I would really appreciate it. I will also work with someone to develop a Plug-in if there are multiple people interested in this other than me.
Feel free to PM me or we can start a new thread if it would be better to do so.

The Steamist has this and it does interface with HA systems. If there was a wall mountable waterproof Android tablet, that would be ideal. All I can really find are waterproof cases.

Add energy monitoring to the electronic valve and you'll know when the unit is on/off. It's worth noting the RF remote only turns the unit off/on or initiates one of 4 presets.
They also have their U shower setup. This is billed as a smart home connected system. It has an IOS/android app that can work via wifi.

I was looking at installing this, too bad no API. I am looking at the steamist system as that has support for crestron and control4 so it must have an api. If anyone knows of a shower system that has an open api, please let me know.
I did find this, someone figured out how to control parts of the Kohler system, but it looks incomplete.

All, I have bad news. I heard back from Kohler today. They said it is a closed system and there is no way to integrate it into another system like HomeSeer. While I could do the screen scraping to provide a plugin for adjusting settings, I don't think that was the intent of those wanting a plugin. I wish I had better news and I hope Kohler now realized there is a market for those wanting integration into other systems.

I just want to add that looking at the web pages for their web interface, the best that could happen using the scraping method is setting it up, which would be a poor use for a plugin. At best you'd be able to change some settings like the default temp and/or the max temp.
I assume that the intention of the plugin is to control the showers and not just adjust the settings. This doesn't mean this still can't be done, but we would have to wait to hear what Kohler says.

I have contacted Kohler and am awaiting a response back. I did find the controller which states it has a web interface, so at the very least it should be possible to get a plugin working by scraping the web interface. This is something I could do, but I would need a unit. However, at a list price of almost $1k just for the system controller module, I'm not sure I could get the wife to agree to that kind of expense.
One option, though, is that if scraping the webpages is the route that has to be taken, someone with an existing install could save the web pages to file and I should be able to work off that, but testing will be somewhat hard as I will have to rely on people to test it. I don't mind doing this as long as people are patient.
For now, I will do my best to contact Kohler and see if there is an API I can access and if possible if I could get a unit for development purposes even if it's not hooked up to a shower here at my house. I think this could only benefit them in as it would make their device truly a connected device.
