Bluetooth - not always quite what it seems!

    Guys

I boughta couple of new class 1 bluetooth adaptors to use with Jon's excellent script.

I went for ones with wee aerials thinking it would help reception.... oh how wrong was I!!!?!??!

    I bought two of these:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Class-1-10...lenotsupported

AND... the aerial is just plastic and actually about 13mm away from the pcb which has a usual pcb track aerial - what a swiz!!! Its just for show!

It still works well however! Just shows the marketing works, as thats why I bought them and most users would never know.

Yeh, there is an even closer clone of the linksys on ebay that my one...

At least it works, and it certainly has a lot better range than my old "20m" one.

There are 2 classes of bluetooth radios - one is 30 feet the other is 300. Just check to see if the device you are buying is class 1 or class 2. Class 1 are the higher power devices. The ranges (10m and 100m) are free space rated, that is with no obstructions/walls.
