    New HS server

    Hi,

(http://event.asus.com/eeepc/microsites/eeebox/en/index.html) but this machine seems to be a little slow and is missing an optical drive. An other option is the Asrock ION 330:

What suggestions do you have for a new HS server?<O</O

The HomeTroller fits this bill well.

Just bought a dual core Intel Atom motherboard and currently testing it with my CarPC. I also have been playing with an ASUS EEEPC 900A (boosted memory to 1Gig and SDD to 64G). Fun to play with, need very small hands to type on it, fast enough for what I am doing but I currently wouldn't put my HS on it..cuz I am used to what I have now...but initially a long time ago ran HS on an overclocked AMD running at 600Mhz with TTS. Its really what you feel confortable with. The Atom "should" have no issues handling HS. I believe that the "legacy" Atom was a single core 270 and the new dual core is referred to a 330. The mwave site states a 220 Atom chip...not sure what that is? The HT can do it with an embedded OS, small footprint, etc.

Here's a couple of pictures of the case - not with the Atom MB but rather the Celeron MB.

          Up and running

Got the MSI Wind pc running this weekend with HS.
          So far, so good.
It's a definite improvement over my old AMD Sempron 2500 and looks like it will consistently use less than 35 watts.

Regarding the CPU, it is an Atom 230. Windows Task Manager shows two seperate windows for CPU usage, but it looks like it just uses hyperthreading.

About 5 or so years ago worked on a major global project using embedded XP, plug n play. Easy to update - just a CF card. Very small footprint ...

Probably would use / buy a Hometroller if I didn't like to punish myself. Kind of like golf, frustrating yet relaxing.

I am also thinking of a new HS box with the current standard or pro version running on it. I am thinking more along the lines of a dual core / quad core mini-itx running in a box similar to what you see above in the pictures. Maybe a bit of a more robust PS. Reason is that I purchased a "few" of those cases / PC's a while ago and really like the case.

Will post the SisSandra stuff from the above mentioned dual core Atom.

I'm about to embark on a similar project to replace my power guzzling HS PC. I purchased one of these from Newegg. I already got the box, but still waiting on the memory, the optical drive and the HD to be delivered. I'll post some more after I get it built on and get HS2 on it.

I am also looking at my next HS box. Smaller ....using a case as pictured above. But instead of an Atom powered mini-itx going to an Intel like the Intel DG45FC.
