    Good news!

    Well once you purchase your own router (combo box recommended by ISP) then you will have control of anything related to the LAN. The WAN side of the router (modem) is the only thing managed by the ISP. The combo Arris boxes have tiny antennas for WLAN so the box should be placed in the middle of the home.

    Here in the midwest my ingress is in the basement and all of the network stuff is there feeding the main floor and 2nd floor and that is why I use a WAP.

    You will not have to pay a lease on the ISP equipment and bridging is easy.

    Amazon does have all of the ISP "listed" to work products there for purchase new.
