    I'm using C2550 Avoton (Asrock mobo) right now. It's the smaller brother of the C2750 at 'just' 4 cores. I can say that it's running my HS3 on Win8.1 quite smoothly and very stable for months with decent load (600+ devices, 14 active plugins).

    I think 32GB RAM is a bit overkill if you're going to run a single windows + HS3 instance on that chip, and you'll need to shell out for hdd or ssd.

    With a budget of $650, I'd prolly spend it like so: (prices from newegg)

    $359 Supermicro A1SAi-2750F-O
    $ 60 8GB ECC DDR3 RAM
    $ 75 120GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD
    $ 60 Mini-ITX case
    $ 70 80w picopsu w/ adapter

    I wouldn't go for the smallest case if I can spare the space... The smallest case (like the one used in craiglist) usually has pretty bad ventilation system, and these Avoton CPUs are fanless and they can run pretty hot.

    PicoPSUs are efficient, quiet (fanless) and they run cooler (since the adapter is outside of the case).

    Supermicro boards are bulletproof. They are super stable and would make a great foundation for the cornerstone of your digital home.

    ps: I'm planning to migrate to that supermicro mobo soon, w/ a bigger case... since I tried to cram my asrock to a similar-sized case to the one in craiglist ad, and I'm not happy with the heat.

    pps: rereading the ad... the price seems pretty good since it comes with 32gb ram and the gigabyte board retails higher than the supermicro; but personally I'd pick supermicro over gigabyte anytime... and the configuration is more suitable for a VM host than a single HS3 installation; but you can just add an SSD to the craiglist box and that'll be a kickass HS3 box too

    btw, i think they're on Ebay now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Core-Intel...-/252043456434
