    Does anyone know what sort of serial cable I need to comunicate with the AP800

          Actually... I think:

          Normal Serial == 25 pin straight through.. (or 9 pin straight through)

          NULL Modem == 25 or 9 pin with 2&3 crossed (also something with 6,8,20... but i can't remember)

          I could be wrong.. but i used to do A LOT of work with VT100 and Wyse terminals... It's just been 17 years.

            Standard serial is straight thru, null modem are crossover, computer to computer=crossover, device to device=crossover, computer to device=straight thru. I don't remember the proper designations of DCE and DTE

              I can confirm that the AP400 uses straight through 9 pin serial cable, male on one end, female on the other.
