AP800 Control and Status Ports Wiring Ground Reference

Sorry if this is a really basic question, but I wanted to make sure that I didn't damage anything. I have a JDS Stargate with 16 opto-isolated digital inputs. Since the AP800 Port A has one ground on Pin 25, can I connect this ground to the 16 digital ground inputs on the Stargate. Do I lose my isolation by connecting the grounds together. I don't really see another way to do this, but I just wanted to check with the experts first.

AP800 Control/Status Problem

Here is an update. The microphone gating status seems to work fine with only hooking up the one of the leads to the Stargate Digital Inputs (pins 17-24 from the AP800 Port A). No ground wire from the AP800 is used for any of the Stargate digital inputs.

All of the microphone inputs seem to work fine going to the digital inputs (1-8) on the Stargate. But, the other status inputs do not.

I have attached a screen shot for pin 2 on the AP800 as a test case. I have muted Mic 1 on and off with no change scene to the corresponding Stargate digital input #9.

I have also tried using the ground wire from pin 25 of the AP800 but this did not make a difference either.

What am I missing here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
